Ellen’s
introduction into the world of travel was leaving home at 19 and traveling
to the Middle East to experience living in another culture. Once she
arrived back in the states her love of travel continued by driving through
the states as far west as Alaska and as far south as Florida.
Once
Ellen settled down back in the Washington area, she enrolled in The
International Travel Training Courses, Inc. and graduated in the winter
of 1978. She immediately went to work for a large travel agency on Capital
Hill working with the Senate and Congress along with residents living
in the surrounding area. From there she went to a larger agency in Washington
D.C, to work her way up to become general manger of the company which
had four locations in Washington and Maryland.
In
1984 Ellen bought one of the offices that she managed and became a partner
in the office now known as Research Travel. A few years ago she bought
out her partner and now this woman owned, small business is hers alone.
Despite the many changing faces of the travel industry, Ellen has maintained
her company with the help of her great staff and her knowledge of the
current needs of her clients.
Ellen
no longer works with new clients but will assign an agent or agents
to new companies or individuals. Most of her time is working to maintain
the high standard of service she expects her company to give to each
traveler that requests travel information. This means working with existing
clients to make sure all their needs and requirements are being taken
care of. Some of her time is out of the office making sales calls on
new and old clients.
Ellen
still has a love of travel. After all the countries and states she has
visited, her favorite place to vacation is on a cruise ship.
