- Make a photocopy of the first two pages of your passport, and a copy of your airline ticket or e-ticket confirmation. Carry these separate from your actual passport and ticket. This will speed replacement if lost.
- Never pack your prescription drugs in your checked luggage - carry them in your carry-on.
- Take medication in its actual prescription bottles, to avoid possible confiscation.
- Put your name and address on a label inside your suitcases, to aid ID if luggage is lost.
- Give copies of your itinerary- including dates, names and phone numbers of hotels to your family or friends, for emergency use.
- ATM's are an easy and fast way to get cash abroad in local currencies. Make sure you have a PIN number that will work with your card in a cash machine.
